This first-of-its-kind analysis from Charles River Associates, prepared for AHIP, concludes that as a result of private disability insurers’ return-to-work programs and comprehensive disability claims management, nearly 65,000 employees each year rely less or not at all on public disability programs, saving the federal government an estimated $2 billion annually and an estimated $25 billion over the next decade. The report discusses the role that private disability insurance plays in protecting individuals and their families from financial hardship when illness or injury prevents them from earning a living.

The group sent a letter to the entire Congress encouraging other members to join the caucus in raising awareness about the risk of disability, promoting personal responsibility, and encouraging preparedness.
